This sad story is on the front page of CBC.ca but is very difficult to find on many american news networks. The death of every innocent person should be mourned, and I am posting this today in case anyone misses it.

“they were shocked and they were awed and they were blown in half” - Fun & Games, Barenaked Ladies
The BBC has a story on their website that states that 655,000 Iraqi civilians have died since conflict began in 2003, who would otherwise be alive if no conflict had taken place. And with 4000 Iraqi police officers dead within the past 2 years, it’s hard to say this is not a civil war.
Thanks to leftdog for pointing out that the number of deaths of Iraqi civilians is greater than the population of Winnipeg.

Thanks to liberal catnip for bringing this up.
From The Independant:
More than 10,000 Iraqis - the vast majority in Baghdad - have been killed in the past four months alone, a figure that would send shockwaves through the international community were it in any other part of the world.
How true is that? 10,000 dead, this should cause public outcry, but it seems like it can be easily ignored by most people in power. It’s time to wake up the “leaders†of the world to the crisis going on in Iraq.
If this isn’t a civil war, then what is?
