Softwood Failure

Posted by Tyler Kinch on 1st May 2006

This deal, or whatever you want to call it, is not a success. It is a failure. Sure it is great to finally be able to get this dealt with after so many years, but we lost. Stephen Harper conceded defeat on behalf of all Canadians when he made this “deal”.

First of all, by doing this, Harper has caused many industries in the United States to think they can get away with the same thing. The tariffs put onto Canadian softwood lumber were illegal as many international bodies pointed out. But the industry in the United States and the United States government is getting away with it softwoodlogs.jpgwith no punishment, and they get to keep twenty percent of the money they stole from us too! It looks like crime does pay when you are in politics. By only demanding that eighty percent of these tariffs be returned, we are saying that the United States was somewhat innocent with these illegal tariffs. Well they were not. Other industries in the United States right now are seeing this they will eventually start to think, “Hey we can do this too. Lobby the government to put illegal tariffs on products coming from Canada. We would have a competitive advantage for years as the Canadians take a long time to respond. And when they do respond, they will only ask for some of the money back.”

These tariffs were illegal and Stephen Harper failed once again.

“I Listen To Jack! In My Teeth”

Posted by Tyler Kinch on 1st May 2006

So I got my root canal done. Really, it wasn’t painful at all… I think I want my money back. Just every once in a while during the procedure I’d get kind of a shock, when they hit a nerve. And after the procedure was done, I didn’t feel anything so I thought for sure I’d pay for it in pain once the freezing went away. But nope, feels really good now, except for where I put my tongue up on the abscess whey drained, it feels weird.

Anyways, during the procedure the dentist was using these small tiny metal filings. And he started to get rough with it and I guess he got a little bit to rough. It broke off in my tooth. Now the dentist never told me during the procedure what happened, he waited till after. But after hearing “Oh crap!” , I just assumed, and I was right. They spent the next 30-40 minutes trying to get the file out, but he wasn’t having any luck. So they leave it in and complete the operation and tell me afterwards. Supposedly it should be ok as it was sterilized and the tooth was filled with stainless steel and rubber, so it would just be a different consistency of metal.

And at the end of the appointment, the entire back of my shirt was soaking wet from sweat.

Really though, I was disappointed in the lack of pain.
