Ms. Stronach will replace Fred Gingl as executive-vice chairman of Magna, returning at a time when Magna is in the midst of teaming up with Onex Corp. to consider a bid to buy Chrysler.

“My father is looking to the future, the company is facing important strategic decisions and the Canadian and global auto sector and economy is in a period of great challenge,” Ms. Stronach said in a statement issued Wednesday.

I believe this is a good move by Ms. Stronach. Hopefully, she and her family will help bring a ‘green car’ to Canada, made in Canada, by Canadian workers.
I want to see an electric car. It would go with Ontario’s image where - before Harris wrecked the energy sector - Ontario Hydro was known throughout the world but lost its way.
Perhaps I am dreaming - but we have the industry and the know how.
Thank you for not bashing Ms. Stronach. I noticed a ignorant post by a Green poster. Give it a rest. I actually saw Ms. Stronach grow in her position and widen her world view. That was good.

Tyler, put this post up on progressive bloggers. The green poster one was nasty.

    Hi Jan,

Stronach is one of the few politicians I respect. Although we do have differences of opinions, I believe she and a few other MPs could be a role model for future woman thinking of entering politics.

I hope she does the smart thing at Magna, and develop green technology too. It’s not only smart for the environment, but also the pocketbooks of Magna. Green cars are in huge demand… just little supply right now.
